THARCISSE GATWA (PHD)

He is RELO’s head of the Editing and Publishing Unit to which he brings his vast experiences of know-how in professional publishing both as editor, publisher and author.

Biography

He has a degree in journalism-reporting, an MPhil in Urban planning and management and a doctorate in Ethics (University of Edinburgh). A former General Manager of the Editions CLE, Yaoundé, Cameroun, the first pan African publishing company created on the continent (1999-2007), Tharcisse Gatwa was General Secretary of the Protestant Council of Rwanda ( 2009-2013); a consultant for research, publishing and teaching for the Protestant University of Rwanda. From 2008-2011 he was African Theological consultant for the World Council of Churches (WCCC) and the All Africa Conference of Churches; and from 2011-2017 was Commissioner for the National Council for Children (NCC). His research and publications focused on the role of Christianity in Rwandan and African society; in most of the case, challenge church hierarchies in Rwanda to confess and apologise on behalf of their predecessors, and the institution they represent.
